WTFBT Expanded: Osmont Golden Age

The Osmont Golden Age lasted from 150 to 300 SM, during which House Osmont furthered the discrimination of Maras within the Forestlands. Some call it the Harbingers Golden Age as they experienced the most fruitful outcome from this era.

Timeline

Queen of the Harbingers

Neries Osmont became Queen of the Forestlands in 150 SM, marking the beginning of the Osmont Golden Age. She was spiteful of Maras because she could not use the Arts, but she did not want Maras banished or murdered. In 151, she signed the Outlawing of the Arts, which criminalized the public use of the Arts in the Forestlands. This popularized Neries' reign amongst the Zuts, who had a high population in the Forestlands.

In 164 SM, while visiting Tealoch, the royal family was attacked by rogue Maras. Her husband, Lord Finnick Tealoch, and her children, Berion and Karthia, were murdered. In 167, Queen Neries’ daughter, Bowen, was kidnapped. In response, Neries gathered the assistance of the Harbingers of Purity. In 170 SM, rogue Maras delivered Bowen’s tortured corpse to the Black Castle. In dismay, Queen Neries signed the Harbingers Decree, allowing the Harbingers of Purity to enter any city, town, settlement, or village and persecute Maras at their discretion.

The Peaceful Period of Queen Neries lasted from 171 to 206 SM. The highborn and historians refer to this period as the Peaceful Period, but commoners and peasants know it as the Dark Years due to the Harbingers' constant persecution.

Reign of the Harbingers

Wynne Osmont became Queen of the Forestlands in 206 SM. Wynne was weak and listened to whatever the Harbingers said. In 209, she married Quint Knotley, the leader of the highborn sect of the Harbingers, even though Neries Osmont disagreed with the marriage. In 210, she had one child, Blite, and died a fortnight later.

After Wynne’s death, Quint placed the two-week-old Blite on the throne. Many highborns were displeased with this decision. Tristan, the last surviving child of Queen Neries, demanded to become king and gathered houses to support him. In 211 SM, Tristan disappeared, and Queen Neries became vegetative. It is believed that the Harbingers were behind both incidents.

In 212 SM, Blite Osmont was officially declared the King of the Forestlands, with his father, Quint, as his protector and advisor. In 214, the Harbingers forced Blite to marry Lady Morgiana Woodlyn. Blite, however, was in love with the castle baker’s daughter. After learning of her husband's true feelings, Morgiana murdered the baker's daughter in 215 using her Art. This was when many discovered that brainwashed Maras filled the high positions of the Harbingers of Purity. Regardless, the Harbingers continued to hold power, executing Lady Morgiana and House Woodlyn, forcing Blite to remarry. During Blite’s reign, the Harbingers had more power and taught the public that Maras were products of Unmos, the god of Darkness, and Zuts were pure in Axone's image.

Remane Osmont became queen in 257 SM. Remane was a shy and quiet woman. With her mother, Lady Kalamiti, in her ear, Remane continued to let the Harbingers do what they pleased, extending the genocide against the Maras. During Queen Remane's reign, the Harbingers ended King Symuli Thoren's expansion conquest, gaining Kiandy from the Summerlands.

The Last Kings of the Forestlands

In 278 SM, Maven Osmont became king. Maven was an outgoing and beloved king who wanted to reform the Forestlands. He hated the Harbingers and didn't let them manipulate him. As king, Maven began to slash the Harbingers' numbers and banned them from doing public persecutions in significant cities. In 279, Maven announced that he would create towns in the south where Maras could live free of persecution from the Harbingers. In 280, King Maven went missing.

Prethys Osmont was named interim king in 280 SM while the Harbingers helped search for King Maven. In 282, Prethys was officially crowned King of the Forestlands. As king, Prethys reversed everything Maven did to the Harbingers. The Harbingers called off the search for King Maven in 285.

In 294 SM, Meyor Osmont became king. Nervous about the Harbingers' power, Meyor made his sisters Fawix and Devana his advisors and protectors. In 300, Meyor met with the other kings of Mystos and created the Lord Protectors and the Five Great Lands. Lord Protector Meyor Osmont changed the kingdom’s name from the Forestlands to the Kingdom of Valley Pines in 300. The creation of the Lord Protectors is seen as the end of the Osmont Golden Age.
